What Have We Got?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. (1 Cor 2:12-13, NIV)

the loud cry (Luke 17:15)

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! (Rom 11:33)

It is the duty and privilege of all to use reason as far as our human, finite faculties can go; but there is a boundary where human resources must cease. There are many things that can never be reasoned out by the strongest intellect or discerned by the most penetrating mind. Neither philosophy nor science can determine the ways and works of God; the human mind cannot measure infinity. (Isa 55:8-9)

Jesus. Savior. Jesus Lord. Jesus. Immanuel is the fountain of all wisdom, of all truth, of all knowledge. There are very high accomplishments that people can reach in this life through the wisdom that God imparts; but there is an infinity beyond, that will be the study and the joy of the saints throughout eternal ages. We can now only linger upon the borders of that vast expanse, and let imagination take its flight. Finite man cannot fathom the deep things of God; for spiritual things are spiritually discerned. The human mind cannot comprehend the expansive wisdom and power of God

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isa 55:8-9)

Jesus said “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3.)

We Must Avoid Guesswork in our Quest for God

Human talent and human conjecture have tried by searching to find out God. But guesswork has always proved itself to be guesswork. Humanity cannot by searching find out God. This problem has not been given to human beings. All that any of us needs to know and can know of God now has already been revealed in His Word and in the life of His Son, the great Teacher.
